  • Morgan Stanley lowered its price target for FMC Corporation (NYSE:FMC), yet the new target still indicates a potential 8.45% upside from the current stock price.
  • Despite a 17% decrease in second-quarter revenue to $867 million due to market challenges, FMC's adjusted EBITDA reached $153 million, surpassing guidance thanks to strong cost controls.
  • FMC lowered its full-year revenue and adjusted EPS guidance, but the stock experienced a "relief rally," suggesting investor optimism despite recent downturns in the agricultural market.

FMC Corporation is an agricultural sciences company that provides essential crop protection and plant health products. On July 31, 2026, a Morgan Stanley analyst lowered their price target for FMC to $12.00 from $15.50. At the time, the stock price was $11.07, meaning the new target still represents a potential upside of 8.45%.

This revised target reflects a challenging business environment for the agricultural sector. For its second quarter, FMC reported revenue of $867 million, a 17% decrease from the prior year. The company attributes this decline to cautious customer purchasing, unfavorable weather conditions, and low insect pressure. These factors created pressure on both sales volume and pricing for its products.

Despite lower sales, the company's adjusted EBITDA, a key measure of operational profitability, was $153 million. This figure surpassed guidance due to strong cost controls. However, adjusted earnings per share (EPS), which indicates profit per share, fell 62% to $0.26. This drop was primarily caused by lower overall earnings and higher interest expenses.

Looking ahead, FMC lowered its full-year guidance. It now expects revenue between $3.5 billion and $3.7 billion and adjusted EPS around $1.34. As highlighted by The Motley Fool, the stock still rallied on the news, which some market observers see as a "relief rally" for a stock that has faced a significant downturn in recent years, signaling a potential shift in investor outlook for the agricultural sciences company.
