The Cheesecake Factory (NASDAQ: CAKE) Faces Downgrades Despite Strong Financial Performance

  • The Cheesecake Factory (NASDAQ: CAKE) received “Hold” and “Neutral” downgrades from Jefferies and Mizuho, respectively, despite reporting strong second-quarter results.
  • Analysts set price targets that are below the stock’s recent trading price, suggesting a more cautious outlook after the stock’s strong move higher.
  • At the same time, The Cheesecake Factory’s stock has shown strong market performance, reaching a new 52-week high and maintaining a market capitalization of about $4.42 billion.

The Cheesecake Factory is a well-known restaurant company that operates casual dining locations. On July 29, 2026, Jefferies analyst Andy Barish downgraded The Cheesecake Factory from “Buy” to “Hold” and raised the price target from $75 to $88. A “Hold” rating typically suggests that an analyst expects the stock to perform in line with the broader market, with no strong reason to buy or sell.

At the time of the announcement, The Cheesecake Factory’s stock price was $89.01, meaning Jefferies’ $88 price target was slightly below the recent market price. This indicates limited expected upside from that level.

The cautious analyst view came even as the company reported strong second-quarter results. The Cheesecake Factory announced total revenue of about $1.03 billion, up from $955.8 million in the same quarter of the previous year. Net income rose to $68.4 million, or $1.41 per diluted share. Adjusted earnings per share were $1.44, above analysts’ expectations of $1.18, according to reports from Business Wire and The Wall Street Journal.

Other analysts also turned more neutral. Mizuho analyst Nick Setyan downgraded The Cheesecake Factory from “Outperform” to “Neutral” while raising the price target from $75 to $85, according to Benzinga. This move suggests that Mizuho recognized the company’s recent momentum but viewed the stock’s upside as more limited after its rally.

Despite the downgrades, the stock’s market performance remained strong. Shares were trading at $89.01 after reaching a new 52-week high of $89.22. The company’s market capitalization stood at approximately $4.42 billion, with daily trading volume of more than 1.5 million shares.
