Air Canada is Canada's largest airline, providing scheduled and charter air transport for passengers and cargo. The company operates a loyalty program called Aeroplan. As highlighted by the Wall Street Journal, asset manager Blackstone and Quebec's La Caisse pension fund are acquiring a 25% stake in Aeroplan to support the airline's financial goals.

After the market closed on August 11, 2026, Air Canada reported an earnings per share (EPS) of $0.29. This figure significantly surpassed analyst estimates of $0.11, marking an earnings surprise of over 163%. This result, however, is lower than the EPS of $0.43 reported in the same quarter of the previous year.

The company also posted strong revenue for the quarter. It recorded revenues of $4.53 billion, exceeding the consensus estimate by 3.51%. This continues a positive trend, as Air Canada has now surpassed revenue estimates in all of the last four quarters, showing consistent performance in generating sales.

From a valuation standpoint, the company's price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio is 11.04. This ratio helps investors see how much they are paying for each dollar of the company's earnings. Air Canada also generated $174 million in free cash flow and used $125 million to repurchase over six million of its shares.

Looking at its financial health, Air Canada has a debt-to-equity ratio of 4.52, which indicates it uses more debt than its own funds to finance its assets. Its current ratio is 0.60. A current ratio below 1.00 means a company has fewer short-term assets, like cash, than its short-term liabilities.
