Emergent BioSolutions Inc. (NYSE: EBS) is a global life sciences company that develops and manufactures products designed to address public health threats. On August 5, 2026, the company announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2026.

Emergent BioSolutions reported adjusted EPS of $0.60, significantly exceeding the estimated loss of $0.09 per share. Adjusted net income reached $30.9 million, up 134% from $13.2 million in the same period last year.

The company also exceeded revenue expectations. Total revenue reached $234.3 million, compared with the consensus estimate of $177.5 million. Revenue increased 66% year over year, driven primarily by strong demand for medical countermeasure products.

Despite this growth, Emergent BioSolutions reported a GAAP net loss of $180.2 million. The loss was largely attributable to a one-time, non-cash impairment charge of $191.3 million related primarily to the company’s NARCAN asset group. An impairment charge reduces the reported value of an asset and does not represent a direct cash outflow from regular operations.

Adjusted EBITDA, another measure of operating profitability, reached $96.5 million, compared with $33.1 million in the second quarter of 2025. The company also announced a restructuring plan involving workforce reductions and other operational changes. The plan is expected to generate approximately $40 million in annualized savings once fully implemented.
